You can never go wrong with a brownie. So, why don’t you add matcha for a vegan matcha brownie.

We are going for a traditional brownie with nuts in it, but with a matcha topping and paste. These will balance out the sweetness of the brownie. All the matcha benefits are just an added bonus to this delicious recipe. We have used oat milk, to make this brownie completely vegan. If you find that your brownie falls apart due to the oat milk, try soy milk instead.

Ingredients

For the brownie:

1 ⅓ cup oat milk or any other plant milk

¾ cup sunflower oil

1 ½ cup flour (work also with gluten-free flour)

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 ½ cup brown sugar

1 cup cocoa powder

3 teaspoons Maratcha classic grade matcha

A pinch of salt

6 fresh nuts

For the topping:

3 tablespoons icing sugar

1 teaspoon Maratcha ceremonial grade matcha

How to make the best vegan matcha brownie

  1. We start by preheating the oven (150ºC).
  2. First, mix the liquid ingredients in a big bowl.
  3. Secondly, add all the rest of the ingredients except for the nuts. Make sure to firmly stir after adding each ingredient.
  4. Grease the cake tin with butter or olive oil and add the mixture to the tin.
  5. Break the nuts into little pieces and add them on top of the mixture. Remember to bury some of them deeper, so they won’t sink.
  6. Bake the brownie in the oven for 20 to 40 minutes at 180º. Check if it is ready by sliding a toothpick into the cake. If it comes out clean, it is ready.
  7. Let your cake cool down for 30 mins and add the topping by mixing matcha powder with icing sugar until you get a light green color.
  8. Last, we add the icing on top of our brownie and tag us on Instagram.
